About the amateur tennis league

About the SLTA Košice amateur tennis league: what SLTA Košice is, the rules, the player skill categories, and the dates of the league and the tournaments in Košice.

What is SLTA?

SLTA – the Slovak Amateur Tennis League is for everyone who takes tennis seriously… but not that seriously.

Want to keep improving, but tired of always chasing opponents? Want to play a proper match without waiting forever for someone to find the time? We know the feeling. That's exactly why this league was created.

We've brought together a community of recreational and amateur tennis players in Bratislava who don't just want to rally for fun, but aren't looking for the stress and formality of pro tournaments either. Every week opponents at your level are waiting for you, fair matches and a ranking that will motivate you more than your morning coffee.

Whether you've been playing tennis for years or have just discovered the charm of forehands and double faults, the league offers you regular matches, fair competition and a great community of players.

We play in Bratislava and the surrounding area, at a pleasant pace, with clear rules – no shouting at referees (because there are none 😉) and with an emphasis on fair play.

We record the results, we track the performances, but above all – we enjoy tennis.

At this link you will find the complete, up-to-date rules of the BLTA league and tournaments. This document is the main reference point for all participants, whether you are a player, an organiser or a fan who wants an overview of how the BLTA league works.

The rules cover:

  1. Rules of play and match scoring – a detailed explanation of how points are counted and how individual matches are played.
  2. Competition system and season schedule – how the league is structured, how the rounds and play-offs work and how the final order is decided.
  3. Registration and eligibility – who can sign up, what the age and skill categories are and how registration works.
  4. Fair play and conduct – the principles that support sportsmanship, respect and fair competition between players.

Our goal is a league with a clear, transparent and fair structure in which every player feels comfortable and motivated. Thanks to the published rules, everyone can prepare for the season with confidence and a clear understanding of the rules.

Player skill categories

Our league is open to all tennis enthusiasts – from complete beginners to experienced players. To keep the competition fair, balanced and motivating, we divided the players into three skill categories:

  • Novice – for beginners and recreational players
  • Next Gen – for slightly to moderately advanced players
  • Elite – for advanced amateurs and competitive players

When is the BLTA league played?

The BLTA League season is divided into three 4-month cycles:

  • Winter Opening Series – January – April
  • Summer Rally Series – May – August
  • Autumn Finals Series – September – December

New players who want to take part in the BLTA league can join every cycle through the online registration form on our website.

Tournament dates

Besides the year-round league we also play tournaments, organised throughout the year, and their dates are on the Schedule page.

Anyone can enter a tournament. You do not have to play the BLTA league or be from Bratislava and the surrounding area. Tournaments have their own scoring.
